Daily DBS Check for Tutors

The Tutors' Association offers a daily DBS check system to ensure that tutors remain compliant with safeguarding requirements. This system automatically checks the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) status of tutors who are registered with the DBS Update Service or have a DBS certificate issued within the past year.

The daily checks help maintain high standards in tutoring by providing instant notifications of any changes to a tutor’s DBS status. This is particularly useful for parents who want to ensure that the tutors they choose for their child meets safety and legal requirements.

Enhanced DBS Check

A lifelong passion for English literature drives my enthusiasm as an English tutor.

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Sussex, I spent over two decades working in the public sector and for the last seven years, as a self-employed project management consultant.

I returned to university to start a professional transition to the education sector. I was awarded a First-class (Hons) degree in English literature and a Masters degree in English by the Open University.

Since then, I have worked as a self-employed English tutor, delivering private and group tuition to: children from every key stage; teenagers with diverse Special Educational Needs, primarily ADHD, autism, and dyslexia; Year 11 students as part of the Government-funded National Tutoring Programme; and both children and adults learning English as a Foreign Language.

In 2020, I began to focus solely on the GCSE and A-level English syllabi, and I continue to develop my subject, curriculum and pedagogical expertise in these specific key stages.

My commitment to continuous professional development is demonstrated by the recent completion of diplomas in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, ADHD Awareness, and a Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health.

I am currently working towards an accredited certification to teach English as a Foreign or Second Language.
